The Local Society of the Slovak Red Cross (MS SČK) at the Technical University in Zvolen was founded on May 10, 2018, on the initiative of the employees of the Department of Fire Protection of Faculty of Wood Sciences and Technology at the Technical University in Zvolen. The local society of SČK unites employees and students of TUZVO who want to contribute to the activities of this largest and probably the most well-known humanitarian organization in the world with their work.
The red cross, red crescent, red crystal on a white background are symbols of an international movement based on the seven basic principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. The primary task of this movement is to protect and help people in any emergency and fight for peace (per humanitatem ad pacem - by humanity to peace).
The basic activities of the Slovak Red Cross, which are carried out by members and volunteers of the SČK, are: blood donation (Valentine's and Student's Drop of Blood are also traditionally known at TU in Zvolen), first aid education and training, health education, crisis management and disaster preparedness, social activity, search and rescue service, development of international contacts, promotion, and publication of Red Cross activities and spreading of humanity and its principles.
The Local Slovak Red Cross Society at TUZVO is mainly focused on education in the field of health education and first aid. Its members traditionally lead this part within the Fire Science University for Children, organize first aid courses at TU in Zvolen, and actively improve their education in this area (In 2023, four employees completed a refresh course of the first aid.)
Currently 9 employees and 3 TUZVO graduates work in the Local Society of SČK. We welcome anyone who is interested in working for this largest humanitarian organization of the world.
