Innovative teaching aids for study programs Fire protection and safety (project no. 012TU Z-4/2016)

Innovative teaching aids for study programs Fire protection and safety (project no. 012TU Z-4/2016)

To prepare yourselves for the subject examinations from the compulsory subjects and in collecting the materials for the Colloquial State Exam from the „Safety and Security Sciences“ field of study you can use:

1. Electronic textbook, in which were, based on the knowledge gained from literary researches of domestic and foreign literature as well as from the experience with education in Fire Protection and Safety study programmes, briefly and transparently elaborated the main topics from the following areas: Introduction to Fire Engineering, Theory of Fire and Fire Dynamics, Combustion and extinguishing chemistry, Buildings Fire Safety, Construction Materials in Fire Protection, Fire Testing in Fire Protection, Evaluation of flammable materials, Rescue and fire-fighting equipment. The textbook in Slovak is supplemented with the questions to verify the basic knowledge of the topic studied, the Slovak - English vocabulary of the basic terms and the terminological dictionary.

  2. Electronic presentations of selected subjects, which will be further completed and updated.

Fire Safety and Fire Protection

Video-guide is created as additional commons materials to the university textbook „Fire protection and safety.

This work was supported by the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic ̶project KEGA 012TU Z-4/2016.

Modelling of enclusure fire using the results of pregressive methods of Fire Engineering

Modelling of enclousure fire using the results of progressive methods of Fire Engineering

While the properties of most common materials and their fire properties are more or less investigated now, the poorly investigated area represent the new modern materials and the impact of the surrounding environment on the ignition and subsequent propagation of the fire. The technologies used to test individual fire and fire behavior parameters currently have progressive scientific and computational tools to make significant advances in fire engineering, notably in modelling the fire behaviour in a computer environment, and also in the development of fire safety standards for constructions, construction elements and the entire constructions. As disasters such as the the collaps of the World Trade Center in 2001 or the catastrophic fire of a multi-storey residential building in London in mid-June of this year (2017) have shown, new approaches, progressive and sophisticated methods and technologies must be implemented in fire engineering. The presented monograph provides insight into selected issues of fire engineering, namely the history of fire engineering, basic theoretical aspects of fire testing as well as the dynamics of the compartment fire complemented by experimental research aimed at finding out the possibilities of application of the results of the research conducted by both partner institutions in the framework of the project APVV-0057-12 "Progressive methods of material fire-technical characteristics determination in fire engineering" in mathematical modelling the compartment fire behaviour and study of the parameters of smoke as product of a fire that occurred at the upper side of the kitchen unit in kitchen and a fire caused by the ignition of a matress in the bedroom of the model construction. There were also the changing ventilation parametres as well as changing ignition source, the fire cause and site respectively, taken into account.

Fire Protection and Rescue Services

This work was supported by the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic ̶project KEGA 001 TU Z-4/2020 „Implementation of progressive technologies, mehods and forms to education in the study field „Safety and &Security Science“.

This university textbook has 11 chapters: history of the fire protection legislative, fire dynamics, fire properties of materials and fire testing, state administration in the fire protection section, organization of fire brigades , organization of the Intergreted rescue systems and others topics.

Coping with crisis situations: mass casualty accident with dangerous substances

This work was supported by the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic ̶project KEGA 013 PU Z-4/2017.

The presented commons material contains information about mass casualty and the possibility of dealing of this incidents. It has teoretical and practical parts. Advance of actvities during the accidents  was documented by videocamera. These videos are on youtube.com.

Cooperation of selected emergency services of the integrated rescue system when coping with mass casualty accident with dangerous substance occurrence

Cooperation of selected emergency services of the integrated rescue system when coping with mass casualty accident with dangerous substance occurrence

The presented scientific monograph summarizes the knowledge gained from the implementation of the tactical exercise called “Kysak 2019”, which was realized in the area of the Training Center of the University of Security Management (VŠBM) − Kysak in April 2019. It was a tactical training aimed at eliminating the consequences of an emergency, i.e. mass casualty accident involving passenger motor vehicles with the occurrence of a biohazardous substance − anthrax. The objective of the tactical training was, in addition to practicing individual activities related to the elimination of the emergency consequences, the investigation of the safety and effectiveness of the work of deployed forces and resources to eliminate the emergency consequencies, investigation of the commanders' skills and skills in managing forces and deploying resources, providing pre-medical assistance to injured persons, rescue procedures, and methods of decontamination and evacuation of persons. The knowledge gained in the course of tactical training was subjected to closer examination and subsequently the critical points in the elimination of emergency of this kind were derived. Possible ways of dealing with individual critical points were proposed, the cooperation of emergency medical service workers and members of the Fire and Rescue Service particularly. This work was supported by the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic ̶project KEGA 032PU Z-4/2018.

Safety  and Security Risk Theory

Safety  and Security Risk Theory

This  work was supported by the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic ̶project KEGA 032PU Z-4/2018.

The presented commons is for students of the study field „Safety and Security Sciences“ at Technical Unversity in Zvolen and of others Univeristies.  The textbook mainly deals with the problematic of safety and security risks management. However, as the authors are aware of the strong dependence of investment and security risks, the publication also contains a chapter approaching the issue of business.

Safety and health protection work

The presented commons is for students of the study field „Safety and Security Sciences“ at Technical Unversity in Zvolen and of others Univeristy. This publication was created an one of the outputs of the project KEGA 001TU Z-4/2020 „Implementation of progressive technologies, methods and forms to education in the study field Safety and Security Science.
